Acrylic Original: "Luna Fantasy"
Hi All.....
I hope your Holidays were awesome, and your New Year is looking bright! I am about to start a new series of paintings and change the look of my art studio. I have a whole new series planned and I am anxious to start painting. I have to say that this last year has been my worst sales since I started my shop on Etsy in 2009. It has been a very stressful year. You start questioning your abilities, and worst of all, your self esteem takes a nose dive. If anyone has experienced this, you are not alone! I have been a professional artist for over 35 years, and it is always "living on the edge". Living on the edge of what, you may ask.......Well let me share with you. First of all you are made of glass, whether you know it or not...You are subject to every type of critique that the "wise ones" can muster. Since you have so much of yourself showing, for the world to see, you question every nuance, every brush stroke, every emotion.........Roller Coaster does not cover it! The longer you wait for a sale, the more you are convinced that you really don't have any talent at all.....That you are just fooling yourself with the notion that you CAN bring some beauty to the world.....To be continued tomorrow.........
Your art work is brilliant, delightful, happy. The world is in chaos and that includes cyberspace. Etsy has begun allowing some crooked business practices and has fallen from integrity, and will take down those who speak up. Google itself is not above reproach as it continues to make it harder and harder to be found unless you contribute large amounts of money. Your work needs to be seen in person. I wish you could show it down here.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same Donna.
ReplyDeleteI don't sell on Etsy, but I have read comments made by several people that Etsy has become a difficult place to sell, and that Etsy doesn't back up sellers. As for Google, they have once again changed their algorhythm and their system makes little sense. It is a fact that the economy is getting worse, not better. Sales for me in 2013 were horrible. Also, art of any sort always looks way better in person. It's a hard sell on line. Your work is amazing, Donna, its all these other things, not your work.
ReplyDeleteYour artistic talent is amazing…Donna… please have no doubts… Etsy is a very difficult place for sales…as probably are all online forums… Keep the faith…you are wonderful…and your spirit shines through in your work….
